«Здоровый образ жизни»

Цели урока:

  • актуализация и развитие знаний учащихся о здоровье и здоровом образе жизни; закрепление лексики по теме “Здоровье”;

  • расширение словарного запаса;

  • совершенствование умений и навыков практического владения английским языком по теме в ходе индивидуальной и групповой работы при аудировании, говорении и чтении;

  • воспитание ответственного отношения к своему здоровью.

Оборудование урока:

  • карточки с заданиями индивидуальной и групповой работы;

  • магнитофон, текст для аудирования.

План.

I. Сообщение темы и целей урока, знакомство с заданиями урока, деление на группы.

II. Активизация лексики по теме “Здоровье”

III. Аудирование текста.

IV. Работа с пословицами о здоровье.

V. Практика в устной речи.

VI. Практика в чтении с пониманием основной идеи.

VII. Закрепление грамматического материала - словообразование наречий с суффиксом-ly

VIII. Решение кроссворда

IX. Подведение итогов урока.

Ход урока

I. Начало урока.

T: Today we are going to speak about health, health problems and how to keep fit. We are to revise the vocabulary, listen to the text, work with proverbs, read the texts and do the crossword.

But where is Nikita?

P: He is not well. I think he has the flu.

The doctor told him to stay in bed.

T: Oh, what a pity. I hope he’ll recover soon.

II. Активизация лексики

T: Look at the list of words and word combinations.

1. Try to put them into the correct column:

to catch a cold, a scarlet fever, to suffer from, to sound one’s heart, to examine, tonsillitis, to recover after illness, to be a chain-smoker, to take one’s temperature, a sore throat, to have a running nose, cough, a toothache, to prescribe medicine, to have one’s chest x-rayed.

2. Answer the questions.

T: a. When does one go to see the doctor?

(When he feels bad, complains of smth, suffers from a headache, a heartache etc.)

b. What infectious diseases do you know?

(AIDS, the flu, diphtheria, tonsillitis…)

Who discovered the first antibiotic-penicillin?

(Alexander Fleming)

c. What are the symptoms of the flu?

(A high temperature, a sore throat, a running nose, a stuffed-up nose, a headache, Sneeze…)

d. What examination do the doctors give if you are ill?

(They feel our pulse, test our blood pressure, take our temperature etc.)

e. Why do doctors recommend their patients to stay in bed for some time?

(P1. they can recover quickly

P2. some other people can catch disease if it is infectious.)

f. Where do we get the medicine which the doctors prescribe?

(At the chemist’s)

g. Can you name any diseases that modern drugs can not cure?

(AIDS, cancer)

h. How long does it usually take you to recover after the flu?

(About a week or more)

III. Аудирование текста. Индивидуальная работа.

T: Listen to the people who have different health problems. Match their complaints and statements from A-F. One statement is extra.

Statements:

  1. I have a sore throat.

  2. I have got a bad cough.

Texts:

Speaker 1 (male): my back really hurts! But it doesn’t hurt all the time. Only when I run, or

when I’m going upstairs. Sometimes when I carry a heavy bag or box.

Speaker 2 (female): well, I’ve got a bad sore throat. The problem is that I’ve had if for about a week. And it’s getting very painful, especially at night. In the morning it is difficult to eat, the doctor says it is tonsillitis.

Speaker 3 (male): I have it every year about the same time, in July. Stuffed-up nose, my eyes itch heavily. Sometimes I can hardly see. I think it is hay fever-a sort of allergy, it is getting worse when I am outside, especially in the garden.

Speaker4 (female): it is really bad pain. Down here. It started yesterday afternoon. I thought perhaps it was indigestion-yesterday I was at the party. But it is too bad for that.

Speaker5 (male): I think it is because I am a chain-smoker, but now it is not just a bad cough but it hurts. It hurts if I breathe deeply.

T: Now let’s nave a minute for proverbs. Look at the blackboard and match the beginning and the ending of the proverbs:

V. Практика в устной речи в группах.

T: Now let’s work in groups. There are some situations in the cards, act out a conversation:

Card 1. Every year there is an epidemic of flu in our town. You are asked to give some pieces of advice to your schoolmates on your school TV. Your advice can be headlined “Take my tip and keep fit”. What would you say?

P1. If you want to enjoy life, be healthy and fit. You should sleep 8 or 9 hours a day.

P2. You should get up early.

P3. You should have regular meals, cut out snacks and desserts, and cut out on fart.

P4. You should keep a healthy diet, avoid junk food. What is tasty is not always healthy.

P2. You should go in for sports, take regular exercises.

P3. You should spend a lot of time in the open air.

P1. You should attend you P.E. classes at school regularly.

Card 2. You felt bad last week, you went to policlinic and consulted a doctor. Now you should follow his recommendations. Your classmates try to find out what the doctor did to determine your illness.

Card 3 You feel bad. You have a headache, a sore throat and a running nose. Your cheeks are red. Your classmates try to give you some pieces of advice.

VI. Чтение текстов. Задание для групп:

Упр.14, стр.44.

T: Read and find out what teens do to keep fit.

Key:

Group 1. Paul goes in for football. He has to train a lot. Once or twice a week he gets up early in the morning and goes for a run in the woods.

Group 2. Monica doesn’t do anything just to keep fit. She belongs to the school gym club and goes skating at their ice rink.

Group 3. Andrew gets as much exercise as possible. He plays tennis. He began to lift weights to strengthen his arms and goes in for swimming.

VII. Наречия с суффиксом-ly. (индивидуальная работа с карточками).
