Калининград морепорт расположенный у балтийского моря и это географическо не часть России. В 2002 нацоинальный население был 430 003 людей.

Калининград очень важная страна для промышленности, перевозка и рыболовство. Большое количество телевизоров в России строят в Калининграде и у них машина фабрика. Также у нас в Калининграде есть культура, например много музей, который выставляют историю, исскуство, архелогия и окружающая среда – музей моря. Есть также великий театр, который находится в центре города.

Тоже Калининград очень живописный. У них в городе есть парк и большое количество памятников, например космонавт Алексей Леонов, Юрий Романенко и Александр Викторенко. В Калининграде также есть большой зоопарк, кафедральный собор в стиле кирпичной готике и искусственный озеро зовут нижний пруд. Это очень популярный для отдых, особенно летом.

К тому же много разные рестораны с международную еду и традиционная русская еда, поэтому Калининград очень хорошое мемто для туристов.

Reading, Research and Understanding

This candidate is able to offer some factual information about his / her chosen topic of Kaliningrad and shows some understanding of the economic role which Kaliningrad plays in Europe and Russia, e.g. ‘Калининград очень важная страна для промышленности’. There is some evidence of research and wider reading as the essay touches on a wide range of different aspects of the study of a geographical region, i.e. tourism, industry, environmental factors and cultural factors. The essay contains simple factual information about each of these in relation to Kaliningrad. The material is somewhat descriptive, however, and the candidate does not address the specific question on the examination paper in any depth, probably due to a lack of sufficient knowledge in this area. This essay appears to be general summary of all the factual knowledge which the candidate has about the region and contains very little analysis.

Organisation and Development

The candidate is able to organise the material into paragraphs and sequence these. There is little overall attempt at building the essay into a coherent whole, however. The essay mentions a large number of different points which relate to Kaliningrad but does not develop any of these beyond giving basic factual information. The introductory paragraph sets the scene effectively but the limited conclusion does not relate the points made in the essay to the question on the examination paper. The essay is 139 words in length, shorter than the 180-200 words expected.

Quality of Language

The language used in this candidate’s essay is sufficient to communicate meaning although accuracy is very variable. Some verb agreements and case endings are correct, others are not. The candidate is able to use a range of lexis appropriate to the topic, such as ‘промышленность’, ‘окружающая среда’, although there is a significant amount of simplistic lexis. There is occasional mother-tongue interference which impedes comprehensibility and the register is often inappropriate for an essay at this level. Sentence construction is basic and the candidate does not employ essay-type constructions as a framework for his / her writing.

Overall, this essay demonstrates some research but does not demonstrate the analytical approach required by the specification. To access the higher Mark Ranges, candidates should analyse the research they have undertaken, give their opinions and justify them within the boundaries of the question set on the examination paper.

После трудного времени в Советском периоде, рассказ об Анастасии Романове даёт надежду русским людям сегодня. Сегодня много русских людей ещё помнят историю Анастасии потому, что они хотят помнять лучшие времена. Хотя жизнь была трудная, когда королевская семья жила, большинство людей были счастливые.

Великая княжна Анастасия родилась 18 июля 1901 года в Петергофе. Её родители были Николай второй, последний царь России, и его жена, Александра. У Анастасии была три старшие сестры и один брат.

В 1917 году в России произошла октябрьская революция. К власти пришли Большевики и они решили уничтожить царскую семью. Их фррестовали в Сибири и солдаты расстрелали царсую семью в погребе, но люди не уверены, что произошло с Анастасией после этой ночи. Есть много дакадок, потому что только пять мёртвых тел обнаружили, поэтому два тела были пропавшие.

В течение многих лет, много женщин претендовали на то, что они великая княжня Анастасия, такие, как Южения Смит и Анна Андерсон. Самая вероятная причина появления этих самозванцев то, что россиские люди хотели верить, что Анастасия живёт. Однако, в 2008 году, учёные доказали, что Анастасия умерла в 1918 году с её семьей.

Всё равно, я думаю, что русские люди не утрачивают надежду о том, что она жива, потому что они нужны верить,чтобы быть счастливыми.

Commentary on Example 2 (Anastasia Romanova)

Reading, Research and Understanding

This candidate offers in-depth factual knowledge about Anastasia Romanova and is able to relate her role to modern Russia effectively and interestingly (‘Россииские люди хотели верить, что Анастасия живёт’). Although it is unclear which historical period was studied in preparation for the Research-Based Essay, the candidate does set Anastasia in the context of the early 20^th-century upheavals in Russia and describes her role in the Russian psyche effectively. There is significant evidence of reading and research, including factual information and key dates, and an analytical approach is taken to the essay with some suggestions given as to why the story of Anastasia occupies the minds of Russians today. The candidate has knowledge of the area to enable him / her to write an effective essay which demonstrates understanding beyond simple restating of facts.

Mark Range: 19-24

Organisation and Development

The essay is well planned and the candidate is able to sequence the ideas in the essay effectively and produce a coherent piece of writing overall. The historical context of Anastasia is introduced neatly and the paragraphing enables the reader to follow the development of the candidate’s argument. Through the whole essay, the points made lead the reader towards the conclusion. The essay is 207 words, which is just within the rubric.

Quality of Language

The language in this essay enables the candidate to communicate his / her ideas effectively. Case endings and verb agreements are generally correct and the overall impression is of accuracy in the grammar expected at A2 level. The candidate uses some phrases which would be expected in analytical essays at this level, e.g. ‘хотя’, ‘однако’, ‘всё равно’, although the register is sometimes a little simplistic and a wider range of these phrases would have enabled more effective structuring. There are a number of complex sentences and idioms and some successful examples of passive constructions (‘их аррестовали в Сибири’).

Overall

Overall, this is an effective essay which demonstrates the ability to analyse research undertake and has some original and interesting ideas. The candidate succeeds in gaining access to the higher Mark Ranges by sequencing the ideas within the essay well and using a range of appropriate lexis and more complex sentences.

Example 3 (The Siege of Leningrad)

Во вторая мировая война, семьдесять годы назад, Блокада Ленинграда начиналась. Сейчас это осень известный потому, что было один из длинее борбей в войне, но также очень неуспешный для немецских. Когда блокада закоичила, тысячи россияней умерли и Ленинград (сегодня зовут Санкт Петербург) был разрушен. Блокада продолился больше чем два года.

Гитлер выбирал разрушить Ленинград из-за того, что город был прежнмй столица России. Он верил, что немецкие выграли бы очень быстро, и поэтому не думал о проблемы, который у него было бы с борбём.

Несмотря на могущество Германии сторона, они не готовили для сопротивление из советского стороны. Посли Германия и Финландия закоичили транспорт между Ленинград и другие города в России, они нападали.

Германия исползовала помощь из Финладния, чтобы понимать сообщение между Россииские командующие. С этим помощь, они окружали город. Однако они не принимали преимущество, и командующий Жуков, который организировал Красной Армии, нападал Германий. С исползование озера Лагода они принимали ресурсы жить и нападать.

Commentary on Example 3 (The Siege of Leningrad)

Reading, Research and Understanding

This candidate has clearly researched the Siege of Leningrad and offers a large body of knowledge to support the statements made in his / her essay. He / she shows understanding of the role which the siege played in the defeat of the German army in the Soviet Union and also the significance of the siege in the minds of the citizens of Leningrad. Although the candidate mentions Zhukov and other Soviet commanders, he / she was clearly not prepared to describe the role of one person in the Siege of Leningrad as required by the question on the examination paper. Although the essay contains a number of sweeping statements, it does effectively demonstrate the combination of factual knowledge and analysis required by the specification, e.g. ‘Гитлер выбрал разрушить Ленеинград из-за того, что город был прежняя столица России. Он верил, что немецкие выграли бы очень быстро и поэтому не думал о проблемах...’

Mark Range: 13-18

Organisation and Development

This essay is well planned and succeeds in sequencing the ideas effectively. It is an effective combination of factual knowledge and analysis. The ideas in the essay are well developed and assertions are usually supported by some kind of factual information. The conclusion, although difficult to follow as it is grammatically incorrect, is interesting and offers some ideas beyond simple description of the siege. At 222 words, the essay is slightly longer than the rubric specifies.

Quality of Language

The candidate succeeds in communicating his / her ideas effectively although the there are a large number of grammatical errors in this essay. Inaccurate language and / or mother-tongue interference occasionally impede comprehensibility, e.g. ‘несмотря на могущество Германия сторона они не готовил для сопротивление из Советского стороны’. There is a good range of lexis appropriate to the topic, however. The candidate succeeds in using essay-type phrases to give structure to the essay, e.g. ‘несмотря на’, ‘однако’, ‘в конце концов’. There is some success in handling complex sentences, but the candidate shows he / she is unable to produce passive constructions and there is a lack of knowledge of the cases taken by certain prepositions.

Overall

Overall this is an interesting essay which clearly demonstrates that research has taken place and that the candidate is able to think originally. Its weakness is in the fact that it does not concentrate on the role of one person in the Siege of Leningrad and this means that it could not access the higher Mark Ranges Reading, Research and Understanding. Candidates must use their research and knowledge to address the specific question on the examination paper.

Один вопрос, который я считаю очень важным в россиском обществе – ненацистские группировки. Более и более молодых людей в России становятся неонацистами и в России единственный есть 50 000 неонацистов.

Очевидно здесь большая проблема потому, что в 2006 по крайней мере 54 людей былы убиты неонацистскими группами и 466 пострадали физически. В 2006 президент Путин предупредил ненацисто в День Победы. Это показало, что этих вопрос надо быть решить из-за того, что даже президент Путин думает, что это пробдема.

Я читал, что в 2004 в Санкт Петербурге семь подростков скинхедов напали на таджикскую семью и убили 9-летнюю дквочку. Однако когда их поймали, их осудили за хулиганство и посадили в тюрьму на срок до 5 лет, это слишком лёгкое наказание за убийство. Я думаю, что правительство дольжно ввести закон о более сильном наказании расизма.

По-моему, чтобы предупреждать это правительство надо давать больше денег в местные молодёжные клубы и общежитие и эти подрости будут куда ходить. Я думаю, что это не трудно сделать если правительство хочет предупреждать угроза от этих организации.

Если правительство хочет оставаться руководителем России, оно должно думать больше о том, что оно будет делать для локальных общин, чтобы предупреждать рост неонацистских организаций.
